Mobile Disco Hire In Essex, and Essex Party DJ's at low hire rates |
Basically there are two types of DJs, firstly those that work mostly in clubs and those that mostly play out at parties. The club DJ will normally be playing a specific type of music and the audience will know what to expect. If its a R&B club the DJ will play R&b, if the club is more mainstream then the music mix will include the current commercially available dance, R&B and chart music. Often the order of play will be predetermined so the DJ has a chance to work out some clever mixing and a record will blend seamlessly into the next, everyone will know what they will expect to hear and if they are not keen on this type of music they will not be going to that type of club. For the party DJ however things are much more complex, no two parties are ever the same, if its a Wedding party for instance there will be different people of different ages and social backgrounds, almost everyone will like something different. The DJ has to find a music mix that everyone is happy with. This means mixing the latest top pop with classic floor fillers from the past. The DJ will need too react swiftly to the changing dance floor situation and adapt the music selection on a tune by tune basis. Each record played should be in reaction to how well the one before it was received and almost all music styles from all eras need to be considered. There are other types of less professional DJs who only play the music that they like or that only ever DJ in the bedroom, this type of DJ will often be cheaper to hire, but many people would regret booking a cheap mobile disco that's not so cheerful. Some people Think anyone can DJ at a party and play any records in any order to create the perfect party atmosphere. They think as long as its cheap enough its good enough. If you think that way consider its a bit like saying anyone can pick up a paint brush and splash some paint on a canvas to create a work of art. Although that worked fine for jackson pollock he worked with the luxury of time. Time is the one thing a Dj does not have, you cant come back tomorrow and have another go, it has to be right first time every time. The fact is it takes a vast amount of experience to make a good party DJ. Being reliable is critical, for example if you call a plumber and he arrives two hours late or doesn't turn up at all it doesn't matter that much, you just book another plumber. Its inconvenient but hardly the end of the world. If your DJ however is even two minutes late or doesn't show up for your wedding party it will be a disaster. You can't re spin the clock, so always book an experienced DJ who has performed at all kinds of functions. With the right mix of music the atmosphere at your party should build to a crescendo involving everyone. Often the climax of the party happens towards the end but sometimes certain factors such as if its a sunday christening party, (with work the next day) or if its a party with lots of parents of young children, may mean people go home early. The DJ needs to adapt to this and aim to peak the evening earlier if appropriate. There is no point playing all the the top tunes after most people have gone home. Essentially a party DJ needs to have a fantastic knowledge of all kinds of music and adapt quickly. To do this well your party DJ needs years of experience performing at all kinds of Parties.
